Recent Study Shows Poor Sleep Quality is Linked to Heart Disease, Diabetes in Black Americans

A study funded in part by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities has shown that Black Americans who experience poor-quality sleep are more likely to develop metabolic dysfunction leading to diabetes and heart disease. This study is significant because heart disease and diabetes disproportionality affect minorities, and the findings, reported in Journal of the American Heart Association, clarify behavioral risks related to SDOH for minorities.
